Secondary School Pathway in aviation flight - Take flight!

The purpose of this Pathway Course is to provide the learner with an introduction to the aviation industry and aircraft types, flight principles, safety, security and an introduction into the the aviation industry in New Zealand.

Graduates of this Pathway Course will be able to:

*Describe aviation organisations, airlines, aircraft types and their functions and uses.

*Demonstrate knowledge of and apply health,safety, and security practices in the aviation workplace.

*Describe aircraft components and the principles of aircraft flight.

* Demonstrate knowledge of the 24-hour clock; phonetic alphabet; encode and decode airport and airline codes; and terms and abbreviations used within the aviation industry.

*Communicate effectively and operate two-way radio in an aviation environment.

*Describe career and training options in the aviation industry.

This Pathway Course gives an insight into possible careers such as pilot, aeronautical engineer, flight attendant, air traffic controller, check-in agent, cargo handling supervisor, airport operation staff, aviation ground operations and more.

Learners must at all times comply with the relevant aviation regulatory authority, Civil Aviation Authority (CAA)

First Intakes: March 2024 and run consecutively throughout the year according to enrolment numbers (1 day a week for 10 weeks, general times 1pm-4pm).

New Zealand Certificate in Ground Operations, Ramp Handling (Level 3)

JNPAT Micro-credential Take Off! Introduction to ground operations (aviation)

Possible flights towards Private Pilot’s License (PPL)
